Pressure unit converter

Convert bar, psi, kPa, MPa, atm, mmHg, metres of water and the other pressure and stress units engineers meet on gauges, datasheets and drawings.

Results are estimates. They do not replace the governing code, class or flag requirements, or a check by a competent person. Report a problem

Worked example

7 bar = 101.526 psi, because 1 bar = 14.5038 psi.

FAQ

Is 1 bar the same as 1 atmosphere?
Close, but no. One standard atmosphere is 1.01325 bar, so the two differ by about 1.3 %.

Is a pressure in bar gauge or absolute?
The unit does not say. Gauge pressure reads above the surrounding atmosphere and absolute pressure reads above vacuum. At sea level, add about 1.013 bar to a gauge reading to get absolute pressure.
